The Rovinieta covers almost Romania's entire road network — not just motorways. Here's what you need to know before driving.
Unlike most European countries, where the vignette only covers motorways, the Romanian Rovinieta covers almost the entire national road network — including many ordinary roads marked A, E or DN.
VIN required
Romania is one of the few countries that requires both the licence plate and the VIN at registration. Keep your vehicle documents handy.

Categories range from A (cars) to H (large buses).
Validity periods
- 1 day, 7 days, 10 days
- 30 days, 60 days
- 12 months
Fines
Without a Rovinieta the fine starts around RON 250 for category A.
Bridge toll
The Rovinieta does not cover bridges over the Danube.
